Description
The Walled Garden at Edgerston House, originating in the 18th century with later additions, is located to the southeast of the house. It is rectangular, measuring approximately 100 meters by 80 meters, with walls about 3 meters high made of rubble and topped with ashlar coping. Within the south wall, there is a derelict octagonal pavilion featuring leaded windows. The east wall has a door dated 1924, accompanied by a wrought-iron gate that is accessed via semicircular steps.
To the north, there is a shell fountain with entwined dolphin spouts and a basin below; however, the underground pipe that once directed water east to a cascade is now overgrown and no longer functioning. Attached at right angles to the north wall is a three-bay stone bothy, which includes a hay-loft and a piended roof. Additionally, there is a further rebuilt stone shed with a corrugated-iron roof running along the west wall.
In the southwest corner of the Walled Garden, there is a timber octagonal summerhouse with a decorative slate roof. To the south of this, a rectangular rubble lean-to summerhouse is lined with timber boards and trellis, featuring a slate roof and an open side facing south. Stone steps beyond this lead to an overgrown watermeadow.
