Description
Corner Cottage is a house dating from the 15th century, with alterations and extensions likely made in the 17th century, and restored in the late 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with exposed plaster infill, a stone base, and a plain tiled roof. The building is designed as a Wealden hall house with three bays, extended to the left and featuring a single two-storey jettied bay to the right.
The house stands two storeys tall, showcasing a large panel frame and tension braces on a plinth, with a jetty to the right supported by brackets. The recessed eaves line extends over the central bays, supported by an arched brace to the right and near flat coving, which is more pronounced in the additional left end bays that have a smaller and later panelled frame. The roof is hipped with a cluster of stacks to the centre left.
On the first floor, there are four two-light wooden casements, and evidence of a hall window can be seen in the right-hand hall bay. The ground floor features three three-light casements and a rib and stud door to the centre left, set within an arched surround.
