Description
The barn and oasthouse at Mount Hall Farm is a Grade II listed structure located on Stepneyford Lane in Benenden. The barn dates back to the 16th century and was altered in the late 18th century or early 19th century when the oasthouse was added. It is a timber-framed barn consisting of three bays, clad in weatherboarding with a brick plinth. The roof is hipped and covered with tiles, featuring a central cart entrance. The barn has jowled posts and a tie beam, but lacks tension braces. There is a midrail to the wall plate and wattle and daub infill. The early 19th-century oasthouse is attached to the barn, with its ground floor made of red brick and the first floor weatherboarded. It has a hipped tiled roof and includes one square oast with landing doors that still retain its drying racks. One end of the barn is used for stabling cart horses.
