Description
The barn at Pympe Manor is an 18th-century structure that was altered in the 1920s. It features a timber frame with exposed framing and diagonal braces. The roof is tiled and includes a 20th-century square lantern topped with a weathervane, with a base made of brick that has some herringbone patterns. The barn retains some 18th-century plank doors and has outshuts on the left, right, and rear sides. The front center has a 20th-century tiled canopy supported by brackets, a clock face, and some 17th-century guilloche moulding that was removed from Pix's cottages in Rolvenden. The barn consists of five bays and the interior showcases jowled posts with curved profiles, diagonal tension braces, and a staggered purlin roof.
