Description

The Oasthouses at Maplesden are 18th century stowage buildings with early 19th century oasts located on the east side of Stepneyford Lane in Benenden. The stowage features a ground floor constructed in Sussex bond, while the first floor is weatherboarded and topped with a tiled roof that includes a metal weathervane. It has casement windows and wooden steps leading to the first floor. At the front, there is a two-storey projection that is also weatherboarded, with an open ground floor. Attached to this structure are two circular brick oasts, built in Sussex bond, each topped with conical tiled roofs, cowls, and fantails.
