Description

GOUDHURST RISEDEN LANE TQ 73 NW (east side) 5/260 Stable courtyard about 25 metres west of Kilndown House GV II Stable courtyard. Circa 1849-55. R C Carpenter, architects. Red brick with ashlar details and slate roof. Completely enclosed courtyard with buildings only on the east and north sides, the west and south sides with walls about 8 feet high, the main entry is west wall, with capped gate piers and boarded gates. Main range on north side, of 1 storey and loft, with segmentally headed carriage opening, arched loft doorway and wooden casement and four centred arched doorway to left. Left hand (northern range) with gabled dormer and wooden casement and four-centred arched doorway, extended by single storey range with casement and arched down. Gabled roofs throughout with stacks, part recon- structed, to left and to centre. Arched doorways and windows in rear eleva- tions. Brick paviour courtyard floor. The stable yard to Kilndown House, and included for group value.
