Description

This is a stable courtyard, dating from 1872, which has been converted into a house and stables. It forms a long L-shaped layout. The building is constructed of coursed square rubble with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The main range runs east to west, and is two storeys high, with nine bays (two, two, and five). A projecting, pedimented gable is located to the left of the centre, and contains a new porch and window on the ground floor. Above these are two sash windows, and a clock is situated within the gable. A double stack rises behind the gable, containing a bell between the shafts. To the left and right of this gable are various windows, all with stone surrounds. A long, single-storey stable block is attached to the left of the main range and features stone surrounds to the openings. The north-south range is also two storeys high and includes a colonnade of blank arches on the ground floor, containing segmental arched openings. Various windows are present, along with a loft entry above. A lower, hipped bay to the south displays a date stone.
