Description
Steddenden is a farmhouse that has been converted into a cottage. It dates back to the 16th century but has been truncated and features 19th-century cladding. The building is timber framed, resting on a red brick plinth, with weatherboarding on the ground floor at the front and tile hanging above. The sides are a mix of brick and weatherboarding. It has a plain tiled roof that is hipped to the left, with a tall projecting brick stack at one end. The layout may have originally been a former hall plan. The cottage has two storeys and an irregular arrangement of windows, with three on the first floor and two on the ground floor, all of which are 20th-century casements. The entrance is located on the right-hand side. Inside, a substantial amount of the timber frame has survived.
