Description
This building is a barn located approximately 2 meters north of Nos 1, 2, and 3 Silcocks Cottages. It is likely from the 17th century and was reroofed in the 19th century. The barn features a weatherboarded timber frame resting on brick footings and has a slate roof.
The barn is designed as a threshing barn, oriented roughly north to south, with central double doorways on opposing sides leading to the threshing floor. The large doorways are nearly full height but are currently missing their doors. On the west side, there is a window to the right of the doorway that has timber mullions. The roof is gable-ended.
Inside, the barn consists of five bays. The northern end bay is likely a 19th-century extension and features timbers of lesser scantling. The original four bays are constructed with large scantling timbers and include large curving tension braces in the wall frames above the middle rail level. The roof has been replaced in the 19th century.
