Description
This is a barn located approximately 5 meters north west of Mill House, likely built in the 17th century, with its roof rebuilt in the 20th century. The barn is timber-framed on brick footings, mostly covered with weatherboards, although some of the framing is exposed on the front and features nogging made of old bricks and stone fragments. It has a slate roof.
The barn faces south west and has central double doorways leading onto the threshing floor, with additional smaller outshots at the back. The front doorway is nearly full height and contains 19th-century plank doors. The roof is gable-ended.
Inside, the barn consists of three bays that are open to the roof. The 17th-century framed walls are mostly intact and include large curving tension braces positioned above the middle rail height. The roof structure has been rebuilt above the beam level.
This barn is part of a group with Mill House and its front railings.
