Description

The Coach House and The Wool Shop are two houses and a shop built around 1830, with alterations made to the Coach House in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed of red brick featuring mainly vitrified heads on a ragstone base with ragstone galleting. They have a hipped slate roof topped with a tall brick chimney stack. The structure has two to three storeys, with one window on the front and eight on the side. The front elevation includes a second-floor window with a 20th-century metal casement, a first-floor window that is a 19th-century three-light window, and a ground floor with a plain shop front and a half-glazed door supported by brackets. To the left, there is an extended opening fitted with a modern window. The side elevation has eight windows, primarily sashes set in moulded architraves with rubbed brick voussoirs, although two top-floor windows on the right side have been replaced with shorter late 19th-century casements. A plat band runs along the building. The ground floor of the Coach House features a garage door on the left side, a modern four-light bay, and a modern Georgian-style doorcase with a round-headed fanlight and a six-fielded panelled door. To the right of this is an early 19th-century plank door with a divided rectangular fanlight, while the remaining windows are later casements. There is also a 20th-century extension on the ground floor.
