Description
Top Hill House is a house that was originally built around 1790 and was later altered and enlarged in the 19th century. It was constructed by Edward Martin, a blacksmith who lived at the nearby Town Hill Cottage. The former forge located at the back of the house was integrated into the living space through a 19th-century linking structure that created a new entrance door. The front part of the house dates to around 1790 and is made of red brick with some grey headers, featuring a hipped slate roof. The building has three storeys and two windows on the front, which includes two sashes with marginal glazing. It also has a modillion eaves cornice and a plinth. The 19th-century linking range is made of brick and has a gabled slate roof, with a canted bay on the first floor.
