Description

Abingdon House is a house dating from the early 19th century, located on the High Street in West Malling. It is stuccoed, sitting on a plinth, with a hipped slate roof and stuccoed chimneystacks at each end. The building has two storeys and three windows, featuring 12-pane sash windows. A wide paired bracket eaves cornice runs along the top. The central doorcase includes a Tuscan porch, an elaborate fanlight, and a double six-panelled door. Original doors, door casings, and window casings are preserved inside. Cast iron spear railings enclose a paved courtyard that is attached to the house. The building holds group value as an example of early 19th-century domestic architecture.
