Description
No. 20 High Street is a former house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the 18th century. The building is constructed of painted brick and features a renewed tiled roof with an end brick chimneystack. The rear elevation is made of Flemish bond brickwork. It stands two storeys high and has five window spaces. The central space on the first floor is blank, while the other four spaces contain 12-pane sash windows with moulded architraves. On the ground floor, there are two sash windows to the right and an unsympathetic 20th-century shopfront with a tiled base to the left. The central entrance features a 19th-century doorcase with a moulded architrave, an enriched keystone, and a coved soffit. The building is topped with a modillion eaves cornice, and the rear elevation also has a coved eaves cornice.
