Description

A pair of houses on King Street, West Malling, dating from the 18th century and refronted in the early 19th century. They are constructed of brick in Flemish bond, with some grey headers, and the front elevation is stuccoed with incised lines to resemble stonework. The roofs are steeply pitched and tiled, with two hips and a massive, tall central brick chimney stack, along with a smaller brick chimney stack to the rear. The houses are two storeys and have attics, featuring two gabled dormers. They have three windows to the front, with a central doorcase featuring a flat hood supported by brackets, and a five-plank door with arched heads to the planks. The right-hand side elevation contains two 12-pane sash windows on the first floor and one 16-pane sash with a cambered head on the ground floor. The rear range of the houses is smaller. Inside No. 26, there is a deep chamfered axial beam.
