Description
The Old Church, formerly a Methodist Church including a Sunday School, was built around 1850 and is constructed of Kentish ragstone. It features a slate roof with a gable end supported by kneelers. The windows are notable for their unusual octagonal glazing, which is characteristic of the parish. The west end has a prominent large triple lancet window with corbel heads, and there are angled buttresses on the sides. The church has north and south gabled porches with ribbed wooden doors. Inside, there are five lancet windows for the pews and an apsidal-ended chancel with colored glass.
The interior includes a gallery that is supported by octagonal fluted columns, with panels divided by pilasters. The edge of the gallery features stick balusters. The roof is boarded, with a scissor truss in the chancel and two arched braces in the nave. Original elements such as pews, a pulpit, a proscription panel, and an organ case are still present. Attached to the east is a single-storey Sunday School made of ragstone and slate.
