Description

Liverpool House and Liverpool Villa, located at Nos. 34 and 35 Liverpool Lawn, are a pair of houses built between 1836 and 1840. They are constructed of stock brick with a slate roof and are positioned back to back, facing the sea with their entrances towards Liverpool Lawn.

No. 34 is three storeys high with a basement and features a parapet and a stack on the left side. The front has a regular arrangement of windows, with three sash windows on the second and first floors, all having gauged, cambered heads. There are two ground floor windows with painted heads. The central entrance door consists of six raised and fielded panels, flanked by Doric columnar door jambs and topped with a semi-circular wheel fanlight in a triple rebated surround, with two steps leading up to it. There are basement openings on both the left and right sides. To the right, there is a full-height bow with a sash window on the second floor, double French windows on the first floor that open onto a balcony with Gothick panel cast iron rails, and French doors on the ground floor.

No. 35 has an identical bow to the right of No. 34, which projects slightly further and features simple rails in the forecourt. The main elevation of No. 35 also has three storeys with a parapet and a stack on the right side. This house has blocked windows, a central lancet window, and a sash window on the second floor, two sashes and a narrow central sash on the first floor, and a combination of wooden casement and sash windows on the ground floor. The entrance has a central 20th-century panelled door with columned jambs, a semi-circular fanlight in a triple rebated surround, and sidelights to the right.
