Description
The Pegwell Inn is a public house located on Pegwell Road in Ramsgate, built in the mid-19th century and altered in 1896. The building is rendered and features a single storey on a plinth at the front, which includes an entablature, cornice, and parapet, with stacks at both ends. The road-facing front is canted forward to the right to align with the road. It has four sash windows, a boarded door to the left, and two panelled doors to the centre right, all set within moulded surrounds. At the sea front, the building extends down the cliff face to form three storeys, with an arcaded ground floor and quoins on the terrace roofs. The windows are glazing bar sashes, and there is a three-bay central range. The Pegwell Inn was once annexed to the W.M. C.I.U. Convalescent Home and shares similar architectural details. It is included for its group value.
