Description
Chilton Farmhouse is a Grade II* listed house built in 1713 on the foundations of a 16th-century structure. It features red brick and coursed flint, particularly noticeable on the right side, with a plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys, a basement, and an attic, all resting on a flint plinth. It has a plat band and a moulded wooden eaves cornice, topped with Dutch gables. There are stacks at both ends and a central hipped dormer. The first floor has five cross windows, while the ground floor has four glazing bar sash windows with segmental heads. There are also four segmentally headed basement lights. The central entrance is a half-glazed door with a projecting flat-roofed porch. To the right, there is a two-storey hipped extension. The lower wall of the right return showcases coursed 16th-century flintwork, indicating that the site has been used for settlement since before the medieval period.
