Description
Lower Lodge is a tollhouse and gate lodge dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings and features a slate roof. The building is single storey with a hipped roof and has stacks located at the centre and rear right. There are two round-headed windows with Y-tracery casements, and a boarded door located on the right return within an arched surround, which is set in a gabled porch. The left end of the building has been extended and does not have any windows. Lower Lodge is an earlier and less refined version of Upper Lodge, serving as both a lodge for Nethercourt Park and a turnpike toll house.
