Description
Upper Lodge is a gate lodge built in the mid-19th century, featuring a flint construction and a machine-tiled roof. The building is one storey high, with a plinth and quoins supporting a hipped roof that has a central stack. It has paired Y-tracery wooden casements set in two projecting oriels, each topped with cornices. To the right side, there is a gable porch with a half-glazed door, framed by a keyed arched surround. At the rear, there is an extension that includes label hooded casements. This lodge served as the entrance to Nethercourt, a house that has since been demolished, with the surrounding park now publicly owned. It was likely built for Reverend G.W. Sicklemore.
