Description
RAMSGATE PEGWELL ROAD TR 3664 SW (north side) 15/308 Pegwell Village Hotel GV II Hotel. Mid C19 extended 1896. Rendered with slate and tiled roof. Three storeys and attic, in 2 linked blocks, with central tower. Plinth plat band to 2nd floor with quoined projecting alternate bays. Two storey open arcaded screen wall to centre left. Mansard roofs to both blocks, with double segmental dormer to left, and 6 single segmental dormers to right. Stacks to left and to right and projecting to centre left. Left hand block with paired segmental sashes on 2nd and 1st floors, and sash to ground floor in scrolled surround with segmental cornice. Six replacement windows with brackets and cornices to all 3 floors. Tower with banded upper stage and modillion cornice to belfry with keyed segmental openings with balustrade and dome and ball finial, and with 1 sash to tower and scrolled roundel to base. Double panelled door in keyed architrave to right with rectangular fanlight in pilastered porch with segmental pediment. Originating mid C19 as Tatnell's Hotel, given 1894 by Passmore Edwards as convalescent home to the Working Men's Club and Institute Union and extended and altered 1896, now a private hotel again.
