Description

No. 50 and its railed forecourt is a house dating from 1801-21. It is constructed of stock brick, with a rendered slate roof. The building is two storeys high, with a basement and attic, and has a gambrel roof with two flat-roofed dormers and a stack to the rear. The fenestration is regular, with two sash windows and a central blank window space on the first floor, all with cambered heads. The ground floor has two sash windows with cambered heads and a central door consisting of six raised and fielded panels, topped with a traceried semi-circular fanlight, set within a keyed, gauged red brick surround. Covered basement openings are located to the left and right of the facade. A small railed forecourt features fleur-de-lys railings. The building is marked on Collard & Hurst’s 1821 plan of Ramsgate.
