Description

No. 16 and its railed area is a terrace house, now converted into flats, built between 1798 and 1801, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The building is constructed of white stock brick. It has four storeys and a basement. The top storey is a 20th-century addition, featuring two wooden casement windows. A canted oriel window on the second floor has moulded bases to the board cladding and an exposed concrete lintel. Two full-height sash windows are present on the first floor, accompanied by a verandah with oval-pattern pierced iron piers and a matching balustrade. The ground floor features a tripartite sash window with a moulded blind hood, and a half-glazed, panelled door is situated to the right, featuring a semi-circular fanlight within a moulded surround, supported by a pilaster and dentilled cornice over a flight of six steps. A sash window and a half-glazed, panelled door are also set into the basement. The iron railings have a bifurcated head with spear-shaped finials.
