Description

These are a row of houses, dating to around 1820, located on Marine Gardens. Nos 7 to 12A form a unified architectural group. The buildings are four storeys high, with a basement, though the basement at Nos 9 to 12A is now largely obscured by modern shop fronts on the ground floor. No. 11 has a stuccoed facade, while No. 8 was rebuilt using white brick. The main construction material is brown brick, with a parapet and stone coping. The west side of No. 12A features long and short stone quoins. Each building has three sash windows per floor, with some original glazing bars remaining. Wrought iron balconies are present on the first floor of Nos 7 and 12. Each house originally had a round-headed doorcase, featuring a semi-circular fanlight above a six-panel moulded door, with the exception of Nos 7 and 12.
