Description
York Gate House and the Broadstairs Entertainment Department Office, located at No. 18 Harbour Street in Broadstairs, consist of two distinct parts. The northern section, York Gate House, dates from the early to mid-19th century and is two storeys high. Its front elevation is faced with flint and features white brick dressings, while the side elevation is covered in stucco. On the first floor, there is a three-light bay window. The ground floor includes one cambered casement window with red brick dressings and one sash window with intact glazing bars. This part of the building is integrated into the York Gate.
The southern section, the Broadstairs Entertainment Department Office, is designed in the Edwardian Neo-Georgian style and has three storeys with attics, constructed of red brick. It features a mansard tiled roof with three hipped dormers. The second floor includes two sash windows and a central Venetian window with a curved balcony beneath. The first floor has three five-light bays separated by pilasters, while the ground floor has modified Venetian windows and a simple doorcase.
