Description
Kingsdown Cottage and Nether Cottage is a 15th-century hall house that has been converted into two houses. The building is timber framed and covered with rough cast, topped with a plain tiled roof. It features three framed bays and stands two storeys high with a hipped roof and a central stack. The windows are arranged irregularly, with three metal casements on the first floor and one on the ground floor, accompanied by a glazed door on the left and a conservatory on the right. There is a catslide outshot on the left side. Inside, the cottage has a crown post roof, square section unmoulded posts that are braced to tie beams, and an arched tie beam over what was originally the open hall bay. The end bays feature dragon beams for jetties, indicating that the house was originally a small Wealden type.
