Description
Provender is a house that dates back to the 16th century and has been restored and enlarged over time. It features a timber frame with exposed close-studding and plaster infill, with part of the structure underbuilt in painted brick. The roof is plain tiled and the building has an irregular plan, with a main range that includes a large projecting wing.
The main range has two storeys and an attic, characterized by two large overhanging gables on the left and right, and a smaller central gable. There are stacks located at the left rear center and the rear right of the building. The windows are arranged irregularly, with an oriel window on the first floor to the left. Below the left gable, there is a two-storey bay window featuring a six-light window on the ground floor and two two-light windows on the first floor. To the right, there is another two-storey bay with four-light windows on each floor. The central gable has a two-light window on the first floor, and on the ground floor, there is a panelled and ribbed door set in a four-centred arched surround.
The projecting wing on the left also has two storeys and an attic, with two projecting gables, two coved oriels, and a jetty on the right side. The interior has not been inspected.
