Description
The Old Rectory is an 18th-century house that incorporates an earlier wing. It is constructed of red brick with a plain tiled roof, and features a timber-framed and part tile-hung range at the rear. The entrance front has two storeys and an attic, topped with a hipped roof that has a parapet. The left side of the building projects forward with a raking dormer that contains a glazing bar sash window. There are chimney stacks at the center and to the right on a kneelered parapet gable of the rear range. The brickwork on the first floor is of a different color and bond compared to the ground floor. The windows are arranged irregularly, with two glazing bar sashes on the first floor and two on the ground floor of the projecting wing to the left, along with one glazing bar sash in the recessed center. The entrance door consists of six raised and fielded panels, set within a Doric porch that has sash sidelights. On the left return, there is a parapet above the hipped roof and two raking dormers, with a regular arrangement of four glazing bar sashes on each floor. Inside, the details date to around 1800 and include marble fire surrounds, a moulded cornice, and a ramped stair.
