Description
Old Forge Cottage is a restored building that dates back to the 16th century or earlier. It is located on Vicarage Hill in Westerham, with its main front facing east and positioned at right angles to the road. The cottage has two storeys and features four windows. It has a tiled roof with a gabled bay on the right, which may be a reproduction. The visible timber framing includes plaster filling in the gabled bay and on the ground floor of the rest of the building, with tile hanging above. There is a stout plinth at the base. The first floor has old iron casements with new leading, while the ground floor and gabled bay have new casements, with the ground floor featuring small replaced oriel windows. A new tiled porch has been added, and there is a one-storey kitchen wing on the left, also with a tiled roof.
