Description

This is a row of timber-framed cottages, likely dating from the 16th century or earlier. The front of the cottages, with gables facing the road, displays exposed timber framing with thick, ogee curved diagonal braces. The spaces between the timbers are filled with plaster. The cottages are two storeys high with a possible attic space. A small casement window is located in the gable end, and there's an oriel window on the first floor, along with two smaller casement windows below. The garden front features five windows. The roof has a high pitch and is tiled, with a central stack and two gabled dormers. A returned gable is present on the left-hand side (number 94). The first-floor cladding varies: tile hanging covers most of the front, but one bay is plastered and one is bricked on both floors. The ground floor features a mix of exposed timber, brick filling, and painted brick. The windows and doors are varied, with the door of number 94 sheltered by a modern pent roof, and the others beneath bracketed, flat hoods.
