Description

This is a row of cottages dating from the 16th to 17th centuries. The buildings are timber-framed with brick noggings and have thatched roofs. The left-hand gable is faced in brick with weatherboarding to the roof section. The cottages are arranged as one-and-a-half storeys, with attics. Numbers 4 and 5 each occupy one bay of a two-bay structure. The timber framing is three panels high and features corner braces. The cottages have boarded doors, and timber casement windows; No. 4 has small leaded lights. Each cottage has a flush dormer and stacks on the party wall. No. 6 is of two bays, with a lobby entry door to the left of a wide bay, timber framing three panels high with corner braces, and a clasped purlin roof with cambered collars. It has a hipped dormer and a second dormer. A datestone of 1652 is visible on the stack. The interior features spine beams with run-out stops.
