Description

This is a late 16th to 17th century cottage located on the north side of High Street in Ramsbury. It is timber framed with brick noggings set on brick and flint sill walls, and has a thatched roof. The building is one storey with an attic, and two bays, incorporating a central stack that forms a lobby-entry plan. The timber frame is two panels high, featuring jowelled posts and corner braces. The roof is of a clasped purlin construction. A central boarded door is present, along with three-light timber casement windows, each with a board hood. There are two flush dormers, and the thatch is half-hipped at both ends, sweeping down to a height of 1 meter over the timber-framed rear passage.
