Description
No. 59 High Street is a 17th-century house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It features a timber frame with a facade made of flint, accented by brick bands and decorative chequers, which are now painted. The building has a tiled roof and is two stories tall with an attic, comprising three bays. The shop occupies the left two bays and includes a central 19th-century bay window. There is a half-glazed door and a separate door to the dwelling located in the third bay, which is sheltered by a canted flat-roofed porch. The first floor has sliding sash windows and one 17th-century leaded iron casement. A dormer is present in the third bay, along with gable stacks. Inside, the shop features a moulded ceiling beam with elaborate stops.
