Description

The gates, gate piers, and enclosing wall to the garden of Parliament Piece date from the late 17th to 18th century. The gates are made of cast iron and are supported by 3.4-meter-high brick piers that feature moulded stone caps and draped urn finials. The gates themselves have javelin heads, dog rails, and looped connecting bars. The walls are continuous with the piers and are only interrupted by a barn, referenced as item 10/184. The height of the wall varies as it follows the contour of the ground and is topped with stone copings.
