Description

This is a row of cottages dating back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The facades are constructed of red and blue brick laid in a chequered pattern, set upon a brick plinth, with a rendered plinth to the right. The timber-frame construction is visible. The roof is tiled, with a slight hip on the left-hand side above the end cottage (number 10). There are three stacks: one to the left, one off-ridge to the front, and one at the right end of the ridge. Number 16 is slightly recessed, revealing a small section of the original timber frame behind the recess. The cottages are two storeys high and have an irregular arrangement of windows. The first floor has four windows, with a shallow semi-dormer to the left, all featuring sliding casements. The ground floor also has four windows with casements. There are four boarded doors, positioned to the left of the first and fourth windows, and to the right of the second and third windows. All ground floor openings have segmental heads.
