Description

This is a 16th-century farmhouse, later used as a house, with alterations from the 17th and 19th centuries. The building is timber-framed, with rendered walls featuring incised decoration, and has plain tiled roofs. A return gabled wing, featuring bargeboards, is positioned off-centre to the right. There’s a chimney stack projecting from the left side of the front and another at the junction of the return wing with the main ridge. The two-storey house has irregular window placement, with one window on each floor to the right and left gable, except on the left side where there are two ground-floor windows. A canted bay window is on the ground floor to the right. Most windows are casements, with a single sash window on the first floor of the gabled projection. A shop front from the early 20th century has arched windows either side of a panelled door (at No. 24) on the ground floor of the gabled projection. A small lean-to porch with a half-glazed door is to the right of the projection. A 17th-century range extends to the rear of No. 24, revealing timber framing and brick infilling to the first floor.
