Description

The former barn located at the rear of The London Arts and Exchange Ltd is a 17th-century timber-framed structure that has been repurposed for storage. The front of the building is clad in weatherboarding and has a red brick underbuilding, while the side elevation features plaster and weatherboarding at the ground floor. The rear elevation is also weatherboarded and includes a loading door and a 20th-century window. The right side is weatherboarded on a Kentish ragstone plinth, with brick above. Some diagonal braces and the wall frame can be seen behind the weatherboarding. The roof is tiled, and the building is one storey with attics, featuring two windows, including 20th-century flat-roofed dormers and casements. There is a passage at the end with weatherboarding, lath and plaster, and rustic supports. The top of the wall-plate on the west side has been sawn off, indicating that the building was originally longer. Inside, there are chamfered beams, tie beams with tension braces, collar beams, and rustic rafters with diagonal braces.
