Description
Nos 3 and 5 on Church Road are part of a 15th-century Wealden house. The north end is missing, and an 18th-century bay has been added, which is No 3. The building has two storeys, with No 3 featuring a painted brick front and a hipped tiled roof. No 5 has two windows, a steeply pitched tiled roof with a hipped gable on the right, and a tile-hung first floor. The ground floor shows visible timber framing with brick filling, and the first floor overhangs on curved brackets. There is a parallel gable-ended ground floor projection with a shop window, although it is not currently used as a shop. The windows include 19th-century and modern casements. The right return reveals timber framing with plaster filling and a long 17th-century extension that has one storey and dormers. Inside, there is much exposed timber and a Tudor stone fireplace on the ground floor. Nos 1 to 17 (odd) form a group with No 103 Main Road.
