Description
Nos 5 and 7 St Peter's Street is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered house featuring three jettied gables on the front, which is now roughcast. The building has been altered in the 18th century and later. It stands two storeys tall with attics and has a four-window range facing St Peter's Street and a two-window range on Rose Lane. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in flush cased frames, and the attics are illuminated by windows in the gables. The ground storey includes 20th-century corner shop windows and a six-panel door with a moulded wood architrave and cornice. A moulded wood string course runs above the ground storey windows, and the roofs are tiled.
To the east, on Rose Lane, there is an early 19th-century red brick wing that is two storeys high, featuring a four-window range on the first storey and a one-window range on the ground storey, also with double-hung sashes in flush cased frames. A raised brick band runs between the storeys, and the roof is tiled.
Nos 5 to 13 (odd), No 13A, Nos 15 to 33 (odd), No 33A, and Nos 35 to 39 (odd) form a group.
