Description

The Church of St Mary the Virgin is a Grade II* listed building located on the north side of The Green in Westerham. The church features a nave and aisles that are continuous with the chancel and aisles, along with a west tower. There is a modern vestry situated at the north-west corner. The aisles are notably wide, and the walls are constructed from sandstone rubble. The tower is topped with a shingled spire. The church dates back to the 13th century, with some remaining stonework from that period, although much of the structure is from the 14th century. The timber roof is from the 15th century, and the windows were restored in the 19th century. Inside, there is a Perpendicular font, several small brass memorials from the 16th century, and various memorial tablets from the 17th and 18th centuries.
