Description

Pollards Cottage is a timber-framed building, likely dating from the 16th century or earlier, and was originally two dwellings. The front, which faces the garden, has two storeys and five windows. It features a high-pitched tiled roof, half-hipped on the right side, with a renewed section on the left, and a rebuilt ridge stack. The first floor is tile-hung, while the ground floor is brick. Casement windows with glazing bars are present, dating from the 19th century and more recent replacements. A timber-framed porch with a pent and tiled roof is a modern addition. Inside, there is an original small inglenook fireplace with a barrel-roofed bread oven, along with a larger inglenook. Original plank floors and old doors remain, and a significant amount of exposed timber is visible, including heavy tie beams and posts with diagonal braces.
