Description

Crockham Grange is an early 18th-century manor farmhouse located on Crockham Hill, Westerham. It is a two-story building with a ridge tile roof and two end stacks, one of which is partially visible from the basement. The external walls are brick, with a plinth and a horizontal band. The eaves project, displaying exposed timber joists and rafters. The symmetrical front elevation features nine square-paned leaded casement windows, each with wooden transoms and frames. A central 18th-century panelled door is flanked by fluted pilasters and sheltered by a projecting moulded hood supported by carved brackets. A rectangular light is positioned above the door, accessed by five stone steps. The gardens and kitchen premises are enclosed by walls constructed of random stone and brick. Modern additions have been made to the rear, along with a long, low-pitched extension dating back to the early 18th century. The interior retains a complete original panelled room, including a bolection moulded fireplace surround, an old brick kitchen fireplace, and an original staircase with spiral turned balusters. Significant amounts of original woodwork remain throughout the house.
