Description

The Congregational Church in Hever is a chapel built around 1830, with a later 19th-century side chapel. It is designed in a classical style. The main building features red brick with grey headers, while the front is finished in stucco and topped with a slate roof. The façade includes a moulded pediment and a plain cornice supported by four pilasters. The central doorcase has a cornice, moulded architrave, and double doors with six fielded panels.

The side elevation consists of four bays with round-headed windows that have original cast iron multi-paned fixed casements, separated by a cornice and pilasters. The rear of the building features an oculus and an original lean-to extension with an 8-pane sash window, likely serving as a vestry.

Attached to the north is a late 19th-century side chapel made of brick and pebbledash, also with a slate roof. This chapel has a projecting pedimented gable with a round-headed window at the front, a round-headed doorcase with double doors, three cambered sashes on the side elevation, and an oculus at the rear.

Inside the original building, there is a plain wooden gallery to the west and tongue and groove panelling up to dado height. This chapel shares a similar style and date with the Westerham Congregational Chapel, which is dated 1839, and may have been designed by the same architect.
