Description

Star House is a building dating back to 1610, with 19th-century additions and restoration work. It was once an inn. The building is composed of several elements. To the left is a two-story section with a gable attic window. It features a projecting chimney with a stone base and paired Tudor brick stacks. The ground floor has a stone plinth, above which the walls are brick. A square projecting bay window on the ground floor has diamond-paned sashes, mullions, transoms, and a tiled hood. The second floor is half-timbered with plaster infilling, and a square projecting bay window, also with diamond-paned sashes, mullions, and transoms, is supported by carved, ornamental brackets. There are two small sets of diamond-paned lights to either side of this bay. The overhanging gable end has an exposed moulded tie beam supported on carved wooden brackets, and a small attic window with shingles in the gable. In the center of the building is a two-story section with a tiled roof over the doorway, which now has a modern restored door with a carved headpiece. To the right is a single-story boutique with a projecting hood supported on timber posts – a modern addition. Brick paving is located in front of the boutique.
