Description
Birchfield Cottage is a timber-framed cottage that dates from the 17th century or earlier. It has one storey and an attic, with three bays. The cottage features a high-pitched tiled roof with a hipped gable on the right side and a tall stack on the left. There are three gabled dormers on the roof. The front of the cottage is made of 18th-century painted brick. To the left, there is a one-storey extension that is weatherboarded and has one window. The cottage has 19th-century casement windows, with those on the ground floor being three-light windows set under segmental brick arches. The plain door has two small glazed panels and is situated under a modern flat hood. The back of the cottage reveals exposed timber framing.
