Description

The Old Cottage is a hall house dating from the early 15th century or earlier. It stands two storeys high with a gable end facing the road and a hipped roof at the rear, topped by a large tiled roof. The gable end overhangs and is supported by three stout brackets. On the east front, there is an off-centre gable featuring a later stone chimney built against it. The building showcases visible stout timber framing with plaster or painted brick filling, and the three-window east front is weatherboarded. It has modern casements and a modern door made of old oak. It is said to retain crown posts. The Old Cottage, along with the Old Farm House and the stable building, forms a group.
