Description
The Old Cottage is a hall house dating from the 15th century, which was restored in the 20th century. It features a timber frame on a rendered plinth, with whitewashed brick infill and a fine, steeply pitched hipped roof that has end gablets. The building is two storeys high and consists of four framed bays, with a front stack located to the right of the centre and an end stack to the left. There is exposed bracing on the first floor to the left of the centre below the stack. On the first floor, there are three diamond-pane, leaded casements, and the ground floor has three additional casements. To the left, there is a ribbed door situated in a small open porch with a hip roof supported by braced wooden supports. There are pentice extensions at both ends, with one on the left set back. Inside, the cottage has a two-bay hall with a chamfered and braced crown post, and moulded braces supporting the collar beam and wall plates of the centre bay.
