Description

The Manor House Nursing Home is a building that consists of three parts, with the right section featuring an 18th-century front attached to a 17th-century or earlier structure. It has two storeys and an attic, with four windows. The high-pitched tiled roof includes two hipped, gabled dormers on the left and a returned gable end on the right, along with a central ridge stack. The exterior is made of red brick with a pattern of blue headers, and there are decorative bands at the first floor and across the gable. A wood moulded and dentilled cornice is located below the parapet gutter. The 18th-century sash windows have glazing bars and are set in exposed moulded frames. On the first floor, there is a blank oval window and a blank stone plaque topped with a pediment. The entrance features a 19th-century door beneath an 18th-century enriched cornice hood supported by heavy carved brackets, with moulded brickwork extending onto a taller two-storey section that has one window. This section includes early and late 19th-century three-light sash windows on the first and ground floors, respectively. To the left, there is a late 19th-century section that is set back, featuring a door framed by a pedimented entablature surround.
