Description
This barn, located approximately 35 yards north of Barty Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century. It features a timber-framed structure with original thick red brick walls, laid in Flemish bond on the outside and English bond on the inside. The roof is covered with plain tiles and is set on a stone plinth, which includes ventilation holes. The roof has a half-hipped design at both ends. Inside, the barn consists of five bays with a central mid-strey and is aisled on both sides. The aisle posts rest on wooden cills with brick bases and have sharply-cut jowls and curved braces. The roof structure includes clasped purlins without principal rafters.
